Charter members Al & Jeanne Vaill along with 10 interested rabbit breeders started the Nutmeg Rabbit Breeders Association in 1979. They began holding meetings at a bank in Woodbury, CT. After a few meeting location moves, in 2001 they began having them at the Bethlehem Fairground office where they have been ever since.
The club hosted their first shows at the Bethlehem Fairgrounds until 1990 when it was moved the the Goshen Fairground rabbit barn. The shows successful outcomes quickly outgrew the rabbit barn so was then moved to the dairy cattle barn where it is still currently held every September.
Nutmeg RBA in the Present Day
Now, the Nutmeg RBA is still meeting at the Bethlehem Fairgrounds on a monthly basis. We have an educational talk at each meeting about a breed or rabbit related topic. We encourage responsible rabbit raising in Connecticut and are always looking for new members.
We have many knowledgeable breeders with years of experience in responsible rabbit raising who would welcome you and any questions you may have to one of our meetings. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have about joining our club.
